  • Comments Thread For: Rigondeaux-Avalos Heading To November 22nd Date

The World Boxing Organization has announced that Caribe Promotions submitted the winning bid for Guillermo Rigondeaux's mandatory defense of the WBO title against challenger Chris Avalos. Caribe was the only participant in Friday's purse bid and put threw down $317,777.77 dollars to secure the rights. They advised the WBO that November 22 is the tentative date with venues in Miami and the Dominican Republic being explored.

Avalos will likely back out and fight Frampton. He's also the IBF mandatory. That appears likely since Top Rank didn't even bother to bid on the fight.

He's the one who refuses to ditch Caribe. Caribe already sabotaged potential deals with Haymon and Roc Nation. They probably killed his relationship with Top Rank too.

Here's what Gary Hyde said on his facebook page yesterday:

One of my fighter has turned down a $2m one year deal and a $3.9m minimum two year deal. He's surrounded by 'genuine' friends whispering knowledgable info in his ear. Tomorrow you will understand #pursebid

I assume he's talking about Rigondeaux. Apparently Caribe refused to sign with Frank Warren. Hyde worked his ass off to get Rigo a co-promoter (Warren, Roc Nation) but these leeches ruined everything. If Avalos pulls out, Rigo is fcuked.

Have Caribe ever promoted a show before? Or any other fighters? Or is their sole reason for existence taking a cut from Rigo's purses?

Caribe is a promoter in name only. They are just here to collect a paycheck.

Yea.... what's the deal with that? IS he in a long term contract or just refuses to leave them? If so, it's his own damn fault
