Comments Thread For: Trinidad, Calderon Feel Juanma Changed After Salido

Former champion Ivan Calderon and trainer Felix Trinidad Sr., feel former two division beltholder Juan Manuel "Juanma" Lopez declined very rapidly due to the punishment he received in several tough fights. The boxer is expected to officially announce his retirement in the coming days.

At only 31-years-old, his career is at the end. He won his first 30 bouts, including 27 by knockout and world titles at 122 and 126 pounds. But then he faced Orlando "Siri" Salido for the first time in 2011, everything changed.

Out of ring issues plus that beating literally turned his career upside down. He looked punch drunk after that fight.

Sorry to break it to the PR legends but according to the BoxingScene experts whom have looked into the situation and combed through the evidence found on Youtube... Mtagwa is the true culprit.

Verdict: Salido is innocent, Mtgawa is sentenced to a life of obscurity for the rest of his career.

You might be right because juanma ended up on his ass in the next fight in the first round, well before salido wrecked him.

Mtagwa was the first to expose his chin. Juanma's aura of invincibility was never the same after that.

He came back and won a title after the Mtagwa fight. He looked good vs Luevano. After Salido though, he was done! In their second fight, do ya remember how crazy rd 7 or 8 was???? They went at it.

it was Penalosa who set the blue print. Watch that fight and see how ****ty Juanma's defense was. Penalosa was getting hit hard but he was returning fire and landing bombs, Juanma was gassing and even asked his corner what round it was. If Freddy didn't stop that fight it could have been similar to the Mtwaga fight. I've always said his defense is terrible no head movement at all, power could only take you so far its a shame.
