HBO is what's popping right now. That Fight Game episode was pure fire.

Showtime has a solid stable, but they can not match HBO in the competitive matchup category.

It's strange because just last year we were saying the exact opposite. You can't deny that the moment the fights started to get worse, is the moment that Richard Schaefer left. Here's what we don't know: are the fights so terrible this year because Haymon is just looking to preserve all of his guys until the moment when he can be reunited with Schaefer and they can start their own promotional outlet, where they will then make the kind of great fights we were accustomed to seeing? Or is it just that Schaefer (and whoever else it was that was fired or walked away from Golden Boy at the same time) was the one who understood how to put together great match-ups and cards? I truly don't get it. I mean on one hand we were all happy to see Schaefer go because he seemed to be the most obstinate, and the one who was most insistent on never bridging the 'cold war'. But goddamn ever since he left we've been getting some wack cards on Showtime.
