It took about 30secs into their last respective outings th o realize that Floyd and Manny both are far removed from not only their physical primes. But both are far removed from being the best two fightets in the world. Careful matchmaking and boxing politricks are gonna keep them relevant and "on top" for as long as humanly possible. But I don't see how anybody that saw Floyd against Genaro Hernandez or Chico Corrales or even Arturo Gatti. And saw Mannyin the first Barrera fight, or even as recently as the Hatton and Cotto fights. Don't see how you could see those guys, and then salivate over what Floyd and Manny are today and the possibility of a showdown. At the end of the day, what will it prove? Its not exactly Jones-Trinidad. But its already at the point where the loser won't really be the loser. He's just be less washed up.

Tyson and Lewis did it. Either way, this video game approach to judging fighters, I.E. 2009 version of Pacquiao vs 2009 version of Floyd, or 2009 versionon vs a 2014 version and vice versa, is getting a bit tedious.

They are what they are and they can still fight. One guy will still do what he did in his prime, which is try to throw combination-flurry punches, and the other guy will still do what he does which is pick his spots, try to counter with single shots and defend. You get it over with for posterity reasons and us Boxingscene arm-chair warriors can debate the merits of the fight and who gets credit for what.
