Comments Thread For: Kirkland-Rosado Targeted For 156-Pound Catch-Weight

MGM Grand, Las Vegas - As BoxingScene.com previously reported, junior middleweight contender James Kirkland (32-1, 28KOs) is strongly being considered to open up HBO's November 8th card from the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

BoxingScene has heard that negotiations to match him against Gabe Rosado (21-8, 13KOs) are heating up and it's only a matter of working out the weight limit. Kirkland will not move up to 160-pounds, so his team is attempting to meet Rosado in the middle with a catch-weight of 156-pounds

Eh maybe. Remember Kirkland's a cold starter, Gabe could Ishida him. James has been so inactive since the Molina fight. Hurt his should and was out 9 months with the whole mental issues and then the Tapia fight will have been 11 months ago. If Gabe's not weight drained I'll take him to win this.

What a great opener to a card. Kirkland should be fighting more often. He's all-action, very exciting.

I like him to knockout Rosado here, but Rosado is a game opponent.

Where the hell did this match-up come from? Not saying it's bad, just very unexpected. Rosado is clearly not a LMW anymore. The further he has to come down, the worse his chances are of winning.
