Comments Thread For: Mayweather: Pacquiao Must Focus on Chris Algieri

LAS VEGAS - After 24 rounds of boxing with Marcos Maidana, Floyd Mayweather is still the undisputed pound-for-pound champion.

Mayweather (47-0, 26 KOs) successfully defended his WBC and WBA Welterweight and WBC Super Welterweight World Championships with a unanimous 12-round decision victory in a rematch with Argentine slugger Maidana (35-5, 31 KOs) on Saturday in front of 16,144 fans at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, live on SHOWTIME PPV®.

"Money" strategically fought the fight that he wanted, effectively avoiding the looping punches against the ropes that "El Chino" was able to land in their first bout and pivoting back to his domain - the center of the ring.

Wasn't Maidana's punch connect percentage better in the first fight?

Let's say Pacquiao beats Algieri 12-0. Then what Floyd? Will you call Danny Garcia to a fight next and still duck Manny?

It would be hilarious if Algieri were to somehow pull off a miracle and beat Pacquiao.

Gotta give Floyd credit. He fights tough A class opponents who manny would never fight. Manny is now fight B and C lever move-ups or if they're on a losing streak. The only threat manny fight was Narquez. No not Cotto at 154

i wouldnt bank on that. algieri is nowhere near an elite fighter nor great. 1 thing ppl are forgetting, the dude is not a counterpuncher by any means. you have to be more than just a good boxer to beat manny, u need elite counterpunching skills like floyd, jmm, or bradley

That is pretty true, and considering the firepower disparity between the two some defense wouldn't hurt either and I certainly don't think Algeiri will be able to do much to slow Manny down with his defense.

Many of us felt Floyd would beat Pacquiao in 09'.

What difference will it make if he fights Pac in 2015?

                Es tremenda puta.

Everyone knows PAC is better. But part of me feels his style might give PAC problems.
