I give him all the credit in the world for taking on tough fights, but ELITE?
Because he fights the main guys in his division in their prime. Don't be a fan that's blinded by an undefeated record. Khans up there with the best whether you like him or not. Khan can fight, don't hate.

Its not just the trainer, it takes the fighter too. Cus De Mato was a great trainer, but hadn't produced any good top fighters for years until Mike Tyson came into the picture. There's lots of great trainers out there, but their fighters are not great and its not always the trainers fault.

I think Garcia made a mistake in firing Ariza. And I only say this because Maidana didn't seem as strong and he gassed even earlier than he did the first time. By round 4, Maidana was visibly gassed and his aggressiveness noticeably declined.

I agree. You can't teach talent.

The gameplan was not a good one. Abandon what worked the first time and spend more time on the outside? Yeah Maidana hit Floyd a fair amount with the jab, but too much time was spent on trying to outbox than to rough up. Maidana's stamina was even worse this time as well, so he and Garcia both dropped a stinker in this fight. Floyd didn't do a whole lot better either - just enough to win, as expected.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed that. He was visibly gassed by round 4. Punches had less pop, he got slower, etc. They didn't improve his conditioning whatsoever, just made it worse. I know Ariza was somewhere smiling.

I don't care about an undefeated record. Like I said before, all the credit in the world to Khan for not avoiding top competition. Nothing about the guy's skills scream elite at all to be quite frank save for his jab, and hand speed(IMO he's also a very underrated body puncher).

He is an okay trainer, clearly had the wrong game plan tonight, not as wrong as kenny bayless though.
