I don't care about Quillin. He can go live in a hole somewhere.
Another Peter Quillin interview

I'll say it again, there aren't too many bright guys in the Haymon stable. Not saying that boxing has a handful of geniuses, but it's clear to see the guys that can't take control of their own careers and are willing to do whatever a guy tells them when he's got a conflict of interestsComment

cant blame a man for putting his career on temporary hold to be with his new baby, plenty of fighters have done it. just like plenty of fighters have blamed having a baby for under performing. garcia used maidana having a baby as an excuse for the first mayweather fight for example.http://www.si.com/boxing/2014/09/10/...g-match-family
I'll give him credit, his interviews are almost as entertaining as his fights. Here he changes his excuse from wanting bigger fights to not being able to be ready in time due to just having child. He says his wife still blames him for not being there during the miscarriage a year ago while he trained for Rosado. Claims he's been out too long and that he'd need more than a 4 week training camp to be ready and November was too soon (if you check him out on twitter periodically he's very proud how he hits the gym everyday and stays in top shape). He then of course finishes the interview and says he hopes to fight before the end of the year.
He also says he had concerns with Jay Z promoting the fight because he's a newcomer and then compares Jay Z to how 50 Cent has been a failure.
if you choose to fight you choose to fight, you cant use that as an excuse. but for that same reason you cant blame quillen for not wanting to choose between being in tip top shape and being there as much as he wants to for the early stages of parenthood.
he does need more than 4 weeks to get prepared. him staying in the gym year around doesnt change that, there is a big difference between being in gym shape and fighting shape.
dont tell me fighters take fight on short notice all the time either, they do that because they have to. quillen doesnt, hence he would be foolish to put himself at a major disadvantage for no good reason.
there is 3,5 months left before the end of the year, he should try to be back before next year. some time mid to late december most likely.
i didnt read the article but based on your summary he was spot on. dude just reached a point where he can do no right in the eyes of you people so its not like it matters what he actually says. you will twist it somehow.Comment

Who would believe that crap? There are thousands of single mothers out there and thousands don't have excuses like that.http://www.si.com/boxing/2014/09/10/...g-match-family

Doesn't she know he's a boxer?Comment

Wouldn't be so bad if that was the case... but it obviously isn't.
His manager said they'd take care of their mandatory, then Roc nation won, he was ecstatic for it and couldn't wait to get in the ring. Now that it's not made, excuses pouring left and right. If he had stated that before all this and having the deadline extended almost 2 weeks... then it'd sound more believable.....dude's obviously pulling this from his ass.
Now he can enjoy his kid and his MustangComment

Nah, Peter's the one twisting his own words. Roc Nations won the purse bid on Aug 18th, and Peter went on record excited and positive about the fight. Prior to that his team was in negotiation stage with TR for over 30 days, making him well aware of his opponent and approximate fight date. Five days later his child was born. Roc Nations scheduled the fight for Nov 8th then rescheduled to Nov 1st. At that point, the fight would've been over 10 weeks away. For a guy who always takes care of himself, in good shape, working on his skills every week, 4-6 weeks would work. His training camps are in NY aswell.cant blame a man for putting his career on temporary hold to be with his new baby, plenty of fighters have done it. just like plenty of fighters have blamed having a baby for under performing. garcia used maidana having a baby as an excuse for the first mayweather fight for example.

Furthermore Rafael pointed out Roc Nations was willing to change the date to later but that never came up. During this time Quillin's team requested two extentions to sign ultimately vacating a half hour from being stripped. Peter had all that time to say "Hey I need more time to train" But that entire time Roc Nations recieved no communication from team Quillin.
First response from Quillin after he vacates:
-"I want bigger fights for the fans". - so GB starts talking Danny Jacobs in the fall
Quillin follows up with interview with Tha Boxing Voice - "I wouldn't get all $1.4mill", - no boxer recieves 100% of their purse, and the smaller the purse the less you get.... He then says the WBA belt is as legit as his old WBO belt because Golovkin vacated the WBA title and Danny earned it.......
Now he interviews with Mannix and the reason shifts to not enough time. ****. He had way enough time. He knew Korobov was his mando in July. He stays in shape, even if he needed more time, he never even asked for it. He just abandoned 3x his career high purse and drops his WBO title that he was very proud of.Comment
