Comments Thread For: Juanma Admits: It's Over, This is It - Garcia Agrees

On Thursday night at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, former two division world champion Juan Manuel "Juanma" Lopez (34-5, 31KOs) suffered the fifth knockout defeat of his career. He was easily obliterated in two rounds by WBA interim-featherweight champion Jesus Cuellar (25-1, 19KOs).

For Juanma, only 31-years-old, it was the third knockout loss in his last four fights and his fifth knockout loss in his last nine fights. Juanma was badly beaten less than two months ago, when Francisco Vargas stopped him in three rounds. Cuellar's victory had a far more brutal ending as Juanma was knocked out and fell face-first in the second round.

Why do they even allow fighters to be medically cleared so soon after a K.O loss?

Is a 3 month suspension just a UK thing these days?

I think if Juanma puts together a decent 5-6 fight win streak he could possibly get another title shot.

He went downhill when he started having problems outside the ring.

Dude had good speed before and has looked slow every since...

He was always easy to hit

When did they stop enforcing the 6 month medical suspension s after a KO loss? They have those for a reason. Juanma is probably just a few weeks over his last concussion

That was a vicious ko, probably the worst I've seen JM take. I hope he retires for real and enjoys the rest of his life. I have been a long time fan of him and still remember him knocking people silly.
