Many thought that, myself included. Buttt...Maidana derailed that train after he whooped him. Honestly I thought after he beat Berto he redeemed himself as a fighter with heart, then Floyd fiasco happened. It seems like the boxing public is willing to give him a chance, but he's had so many letdowns. The Lopez and Collazo fights didn't help him either. I believe he's missed his moment and will be more of a gatekeeper type of fighter. I think him and Berto rematching would be fun at this point, since both seem shot. It's amazing how the landscape of boxing can be changed almost overnight with certain wins/loses.Guy is talented but has never been able to put it together. In 2011, I honestly thought he was going to be a serious player in boxing because of his talent, looks and promotional backing. Thought he would really be a force at WW and that he would be favored against just about every ww. I was very wrong!Comment

Absolutely. He will get fights if he wants them but he will never be what I thought he was going to be back then. Its a mere 3 years later and you can argue he should just retire. Many thought that, myself included. Buttt...Maidana derailed that train after he whooped him. One punch and things change so dramatically. Then again, Vic operated a lot like Broner-thought he would be given everything and forgot it had to be earned.Comment

I was a huge Ortiz fan until the Lopez fight. Once I realised he was nothing more than a tree with some gnarly punches, bro. I gave up on him. He had his opportunities but doesn't have the heart to follow through. Maidana brutalised him but I thought he had bounced back nicely and truly believed his skill set would take him far. Sadly, his acting career has surpassed his in ring profession, what a sad waste of talent. I mean, for a tree.Absolutely. He will get fights if he wants them but he will never be what I thought he was going to be back then. Its a mere 3 years later and you can argue he should just retire.
