    He has celebrity status here.

Most people have likely never seen him fight, but they know who he is, and what he does.

I'd say Khan and Haye are the most 'known' boxers in the UK.

He isn't very liked among the boxing casuals/fans though. A fight between him and Brook will almost certainly be a pro-Brook crowd.

So Khan is the most well-known active boxer across the UK?

Echoing what most already said... well known. Most people would recognise him and he is legitimately huge in Pakistani british communities from what ive seen.

However, i wouldnt say that translates as having a lot of fans like say Hatton, Calzaghe or Froch have/had.

yes he's the most well known probably by virtue of Olympics and terrestrial tv exposure. Froch has the most fans though

Haye is more well known in Britain than Khan is. His fights with Valuev, Harrison, Klitschko and Chisora attracted the sort of extensive mainstream media press that Khan never gets.

Hatton is just on an another level stardom wise. A one of a kind bracket.

He drew 15,000 against McCloskey, and the Gomez fight was at the peak of his terrestrial exposure. Compare the amount of tickets he's sold as a headlining act to that of Haye and Froch, compare the amount of PPV's they've sold and he comes up well, well short.

As people have said, he was our sole success in boxing at the 04 Olympics. He's been a celebrity and rich since he was a teenager.

He's one of the wealthiest boxers in the world full stop and people on here don't seem to realise that. It always amuses me to see people saying he's "begging" for a Mayweather fight. Please....

Slightly more famous than the Queen. A little less famous than Peter Andre.

He just pulled 80,000 into Wembley.

It did take a long time for Froch to become a big name though, that's because after winning his first title in the Pascal fight ITV pretty much dropped him. They aired his fight with Taylor on a delay the next day, but then for the next 3 fights he had to fight on Primetime, an unknown, niche PPV channel.

It was after KOing Bute on Sky and then the Kessler rematch on PPV that raised his profile enormously. Appearing on reality TV shows helped too.

Khan is a household name in the UK.

More recently for losing fights than actually winning anything significant.

                    He is a publicity whore.

But not respected in the same way that Nigel Benn, Carl Froch or Joe Calzaghe are.

Despite being well known, most of the UK public would struggle to name 'King' Khans last three opponents.

Come to think of it neither can I...
