Apparently HBO has ponied up the amount to 257,500 for each.

They might be able to squeeze a few extra bucks out of them but this is a serious offer and looks like it has a real chance of going down on HBO.

Personally I wish it was a lot more due to their skill sets, however realistically I doubt they will see anything near what Roman was looking for. I hope they can work something out and settle for a rematch in the near future, I would hate to see this fight dwindle away and remain as a fantasy showdown(rematch) the sport has become accustomed to giving us.

If it goes to HBO and they manage to get around 140k - 150k each I'm pretty sure they will take it into serious consideration.

I was thinking maybe 300 at most but this is a really good offer coming up from 75 it would certainly be a career high payday.

There's also the possibility of if it lives up to expectations and say Estrada wins they could be interested in the rubber match which the buzz from the fight would drive up the price more.

Most definitely agree with your entire post. With the Concepcion fight falling apart, Roman having no opponent at this moment and now this new offer at hand… I think the Rematch might be lingering a lot closer than most of us think.

I really think Estrada can pull off the victory. The only thing that lead to him to losing the first fight other than the weight drop was his lack of proper conditioning. He was blazing through Roman the first 4 rounds but once he gassed out he struggled to maintain any type of effective rhythm against Gonzalez. I also noticed that Roman freezes up when hit, giving Estrada numerous opportunities to unload heavy combinations and win the rounds decisively.

Estrada should have taken advantage during some mid rounds where Gonzalez seemed to have slowed down himself, however I believe JFE's inexperience also played a role in his loss. The rematch would be intense and both men would be on equal grounds on every term for the fight. Both champions, both in a comfortable weight class and now that Estrada showed his growth they will be at par in terms of experience at the highest level as well. Not only that but in the Segura fight Estrada showed tremendous stamina, something that could play a vital role in the rematch as well.

Really hope the fight comes together soon, it would be a massive showdown for the lower weights and hopefully pull some attention to what is going on down there at the moment.
