I do agree and Im 100% supportive of this fight since I strongly believe that Miguel has a real chance at the upset! There were rumors about a Canelo vs Cotto fight on Cinco de Mayo 2015 -- i.e. the same day Mayweather Jr. is fighting every year.
According to Fighthype.com, Floyd Mayweather will not defend his WBA/WBC junior middleweight titles this Saturday against Marcos Maidana.
This is a outstanding message that, next May, Floyd Mayweather will take either a Canelo or a Cotto rematch...
In my opinion, Mayweather would rather look for the Cotto fight with the 154 and 160 belts on the table...

It won't happen. Floyd will demand that Cotto use different gloves since Cotto used the MX the first time around and Floyd basically banned Maidana from using them. Cotto has more bargaining power it comes to Canelo and he currently is working with Top RankComment

Floyd will have to fight Cotto or Manny, Showtime honcho's are his daddies and he hasn't lived up to his end of the contract. They'll make one of those fights happens because they need to at least break even on their worst deal in boxing history.Comment

Well... Cotto still keeps the issue open...
Cotto: "There's a lot going on in the sport. When the time is right, we will decide what's next."
He doesn't feed rumors about the Canelo fight... He still waits for Floyd to speak up his mind...
Read this article which Boxing Scene just posted here:
The boxing industry continues to speculate over the possibility of a showdown between World middleweight king Miguel Cotto and former 154 lb. titlist Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. The first step was taken by Alvarez, as he gave promoter Golden Boy Promotions the marching orders to take his star status back to HBO, where he returns for a December 6 headliner in Houston, Texas. Alvarez’ likely opponent will be Joshua Clottey, with an announcement expected to come sometime in the next few days.Comment
