You can’t ask for much more than what the flyweight division has produced in the past few days. Seven of the Top 11 flyweights (Top 10 plus World champion) ranked by BoxingScene.com will have seen ring action since last Friday, once the opening bell sounds for Wednesday’s clash between unbeaten titlist Amnat Ruenroeng and McWilliams Arroyo.

The bout takes place in Ruenroeng’s homeland of Thailand, and has quite a bit to live up to given recent divisional activity. Roman Gonzalez emerged as the World lineal flyweight champ with a rousing 9th round stoppage of defending king Akira Yaegashi last Friday in Japan.

I can't believe that many are picking Arroyo. Amnat was the underdog against Fuentes and Ioka and he clearly beat both men and I rate both of those guy above Arroyo. Amnat has been 12 rounds 4 times, twice against top 10 guys. Arroyo has only been 10 rounds once and I'm willing to bet in wasnt in the brutal Thai heat. Ruenrong has over 5" reach advantage, is taller, more experienced, and has home field advantage. I also consider him he better boxer.

IMO the only advantage Arroyo has is that he's the younger man and has more power. But he's going to have to get close to use that power and Amnat is good at keeping his distance.

I just like Amnat in this fight. I've never been high on the the Arroyo twins. But one of those guys does have a good point. It is the lightest Amnat has weighed in his career but if you looking boxrec there only 3 recorded weights in his 13 fights. So I don't know what to make of that really. If he did overtrain he could be in trouble with McWilliams. But I personally think he's just in stater shape for this fight.

Very good post. I'm rooting for Arroyo on this one but it won't be easy. I like Amnat, his story and his style as well… I noticed Amnat is willing to travel as a champion, which is refreshing to see. Rooting for Arroyo but Amnat is no pushover, good fight to finish off the Flyweight championship fights. Perhaps i'm a tad bit out of the loop but when does Reveco return? Also, Kazuto is fighting next week, right?

Reveco is defending is version of the wba belt next month against Yodmongkol Vor Saengthep in another good matchup at 112. Vor Saengthep was in back to back foty candidates against Koki Eto and Takuya Kogawa. I would suggest that anyone to check out both of those fights. I'm not really sure what to make of the fight though because both Reveco and Vor Saengthep last wins could've gone either way. But it's a another solid matchup.

And Ioka is fighting next week but I'm pretty sure it's not against a top rated guy.

Oh I remember now lol, I watched Yodmongkol Vor Saengthep before, his fights are hard to come by but he is talented. I think he is more than enough to beat Reveco. That Koki Eto fight was brutal.

No problem. Flyweight has been my favorite division for a while now and it just keep getting better. Naoya Inoue and Johnreil Casimero with both be fighting 112 in their next fights and could cause a real stir in what is probably the deepest division in boxing right now.

I noticed that these young Japanese fighters catapult through the weight classes so easily. Anyway with Casimero, Naoya and Nietes coming up, Estrada and Gonzalez better strap down tight, they are coming for those belts.

Arroyo should take this. Only way I see him losing is a hometown decision.

I really want Arroyo to take the belt but if you've seen Amnat fight, the guy is very skilled. It's hard to win a decision at the champions home, more so when the champion is a very good, technically sound boxer. Arroyo by KO or else he won't win it, no chance.
