    Pacquiao***8217;s decision cost him dearly.

    Showtime Networks announced Thursday that the previous Saturday***8217;s fight between Mayweather and Saul ***8220;Canelo***8221; Alvarez generated a record $150 million in pay-per-view revenue, breaking the record of $136 million for Mayweather***8217;s 2007 fight against Oscar De La Hoya. The Mayweather-Canelo fight at the MGM Grand Arena also set a record for largest gate for a boxing match ($20 million) and and Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, says the fight will exceed $200 million in total revenue when all revenue streams are counted.

    But a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight would have generated much, much more. Three years ago the split between Mayweather and Pacquiao would have been roughly 50-50 for a fight that would have likely grossed more than $250 million, given Mayweather-Alvarez did over $200 million. After taking out the cut for the pay-per-view carriers, I figure Pacquiao and his camp lost about $100 million in earnings.

    Since then, Mayweather has remained undefeated by beating Shane Mosley, Victor Ortiz with a controversial knockout, Miguel Cotto, Robert Guerrero, and Alvarez. Meanwhile, Pacquiao defeated Jaun Manuel Marquez, but then lost to Timothy Bradley in a controversial decision, and got knocked out in his rematch with Marquez.

    Pacquiao has never come close to earning what he could have made fighting Mayweather. His biggest payday: $25 million for his last Marquez bout. And Pacquiao***8217;s brand has taken a hit with his recent losses. He is guaranteed to earn just $18 million from his next fight in November against Brandon Rios

    How's that $40 million looking now?
    Now pretty good, but a **** deal at the time. Once Arum got his, Pac is left with 29m, a shocking offer for a fight of that scale. You make that offer to make double sure the fight doesn't happen, an offer both comical and insulting

      January 26, 2012:

      Manny Pacquiao

      11/12/11 - vs. Juan Manuel Marquez - $6,000,000 *
      05/07/11 - vs. Shane Mosley - $6,000,000
      11/14/09 - vs. Miguel Cotto - $7,400,000
      05/02/09 - vs. Ricky Hatton - $7,400,000

      03/15/08 - vs. Juan Manuel Marquez - $3,000,000
      10/06/07 - vs. Marco Antonio Barrera - $2,000,000
      11/18/06 - vs. Erik Morales - $3,000,000
      01/21/06 - vs. Erik Morales - $2,000.000
      -- ----------------------------------------------------
      TOTAL = $46,400,000

      * Not shown on the NSAC documents, but confirmed by Dan Rafael of ESPN.com

      Floyd Mayweather

      09/17/11 - vs. Victor Ortiz - $25,000,000
      05/01/10 - vs. Shane Mosley - $22,500,000
      09/19/09 - vs. Juan Manuel Marquez - $10,000,000
      12/08/07 - vs. Ricky Hatton - $11,000,000
      05/05/07 - vs. Oscar De La Hoya - $10,000,000
      11/04/06 - vs. Carlos Baldomir - $8,000,001
      04/08/06 - vs. Zab Judah - $5,000,000
      ------------------------------------------------------
      TOTAL = $91,500,001

      "According to those figures, Manny Pacquiao's officially reported purses have been, on average, roughly half of what Floyd Mayweather has been getting. Although the documents do not disclose revenue also generated from pay-per-view upside, it's extremely doubtful that Pacquiao is getting significantly more than Mayweather in that department, especially considering that they both do similar numbers and in Pacquiao's case, Top Rank retains 27.5%. While I personally believe the subject of a 50/50 split is irrelevant, mainly because Bob Arum was never interested in staging the fight on May 5 to begin with, given those numbers, it's understandable why Mayweather might allegedly inform Pacquiao that a $40 million guarantee would be significantly more money than he's been currently making."

        How the **** is being left with $29 mil "shocking" when the most you've ever earned (according to reports) for a fight is $28 mil? You can't make his stature greater when he hasn't earned more than that.

        You got to explain this one HeroBando.

          Here's a repost for you -- specifically for you;

          In many minds, Floyd moving on is a sign that he never wanted the fight, was ducking then and is ducking now. It's kind of disturbing but who am I to judge? We all see things different.

          But I would've thought the passage of time would've shown the opposite. Those terms in 2009 were part of a ****ing incredible deal: The best and biggest fighters in the world agreeing to split the pot evenly while setting terms that would hold both parties accountable in the gym and on the scales. But drug testing was a deal-breaker and they both went their separate ways.

          In Mayweather's next fight he sells more PPV's than Manny has ever sold in one fight. And makes it clear that he generates more money. The next time the two discuss, Mayweather offers $40m. Pacquiao and fans call it a "duck." Well look back, because that too was a great deal. Since then, Pacquiao has lost twice, including the KO of the century. It's no wonder that Floyd's new "offer" is "Come sign to TMT" aka beat it, sucker. Yes, Floyd's come-uppance may come sooner than he realizes but the KO blow he laid to some of you fans was so cold that most are still unconscious, unaware of what just happened and it's reflected in your posts.

          Lmao are those his posts?

              So what's "Plan B?" Walk away from the fight...exactly. Obviously Floyd can make his money without Manny, but the same can't be said about Manny. Manny could've fought Cotto @ 154, but he didn't. Manny could've fought Canelo @ 152, but he didn't. I like Manny, but Arum is a snake, as I pointed out so many times today. Arum did not deliver a "Plan B." He didn't bring Manny the money that Haymon and Schaeffer got Floyd. Do you believe Manny gonna make more money this year than Floyd? In the end, "if it ain't about dollars then it doesn't make sense."

              • FACTS for you........

                Who cares???????????????????????? Manny's net worth is $100million dollars and Floyd's is $280million dollars. Who will go down as an ATG? Manny Pacman Pacquiao. Floyd is just a mere HOF'mer because he chose to be. You have to take risks to be great. He doesn't have balls and these are facts! Just look at this rematch on Saturday. He won the first fight 7-5. 115-113. WHY fight Maidana again when this isn't what you do? Because he knows Maidana cannot fight any better!!!!!!!!!!!! He is stalling until his contract is up. He's too rich for his own good, man. He's a true coward.

                  I know you're nostalgic for the old days, but just remember how fighters were treated in the "good 'ol days." Joe Louis, Ali, Joe Frazier, Tyson...all robbed by promoters. I know you like articles, so check this one out (it's a long read, but very good):

                    ESPN voted Floyd one of the 5 greatest ever. perhaps how you see him isn't what everyone else thinks.

                      Because nobody takes a 3% raise for the biggest money fight of all time. This is super obvious man.
