that payday is not unrealistic for flyweights in japan .

guys like pongsaklek and Sahaprom used to get paid in the range of 500-600 k for their fights in japan . and these two didn't have the notoriety or talent of gonzalez .

teiken promotions ( gonzalez's promoter ) paid unknown beltholder Srisaket Sor Rungvisai more than 230 k for his fight in mexico against their guy carlos cuadras.

it's a little low to give an ultimatum like this before any negotiations take place, but what gonzalez is asking for is not unrealistic .

Bit of a long shot. I doubt Rocnation or some other lunatics would stump up for this Flyweight fight but if he can get it more power to him and wish him all the best in his career.

HBO used to paid more than that for average Andre Berto. This fight can be a Carbajal-Gonzalez type of fight. Someone needs to talk with the promoters. This fight can be the co-main of Alvarez/Cotto and they can pay them what they ask.

Skill doesn't = money. When will people get this?

Berto drew an audience. A flyweight fight wont draw what Berto was drawing.

When I was watching the Estrada vs. Segura broadcast last weekend they mentioned something about HBO offering $150K for the Estrada vs. Segura fight. Which was turned down.

Estrada vs. Gonzalez II is definitely bigger than Estrada vs. Segura, but not that much bigger. I could see HBO offering up $350K, max.

Gonzalez usually fights in Japan... Does anybody know what's his "stardom" status there?
His last fight wasn't even aired by a TV channel in the U.S.

I doubt he's getting 1m, no one beside a small group of people really care about the fight. Damn it if he's serious about that the fight is not gonna happen.
It's just a bargaining position. The fight is bound to happen.

Sounds fair. If two guys deserve a big payday in Boxing it's Roman and Estrada. P4P fighters that entertain

Not to mention that the stoppage in the Rodriguez Jr. fight was one of the worst stoppages I've ever seen.

"So much has been talked about with respect to this fight, but if they do not pay me a million dollars - I will not fight."

Looks like we have the newest boxing diva right here. A million dollars, huh?

Looks like somebody is hesitant to fight the kingpin of 112 at his natural weight. Maybe because a possibly drained Estrada at 108 gave him all he could handle.
Rodriguez didn't come up two. He fought most of his career at Fly and dropped back this year. His four fights prior to Gonzalez were all at 112 with one a pound higher than that. His first fight this year was at 112 and change. This is just categorically untrue.

As to their fight, the stoppage was awkward but not terrible. Rodriguez hadn't won a round and was basically just getting beat up so ref called it. Seen it before when big punchers catch leads. Not unusual.

In order to get that sort of purse, Gonzalez and Estrada need to get noticed via PPV under-cards. I doubt he's truly serious, but he'll want as close to $1mill as he can possibly get.
