Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr: The Gennady Golovkin Fight Can Still Happen

Inactive since the month of March when he defeated Bryan Vera, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (48-1-1-1, 32 KOs) believes a fight with WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27KOs) can still happen. The fight was being discussed a few months but the negotiations fell apart when Chavez was unable to reach an agreement with his current promoter, Top Rank.

I'd rather see GGG vs Froch, fight is probably easier to make and would be great while it lasted.

Froch thinks of GGG the same way many people on this site think of Rigondeaux -- he is a talented fighter who can't sell tickets. Froch will sell more tickets against DeGale than he would against GGG.

        Froch/GGG is not happening!!!!

That sucks to know, I thought GGG had decent following outside of the United States.

How is Chavez going to make 160?

Or is it at a catch weight?

Stop fighting the scale son...they need to give this mofo some third world water have him ****t*ng off the weight. I think he's a prime example of why athlete's would prefer their children take up another profession. If this kid had any discipline he might've actually turned into something..he doesn't so..yeah.

The fight was going to happen at 168. GGG's team don't care what weight Chavez wants to fight at.

The dude was offered a deal of a lifetime on a gold platter and still *****ed.
12-17 million for 2 damn fights. He could have had one done and the other one lined up, then could have cleared his slate for 2015 for whatever he wanted to do.

When you have people whispering sh|t in your ear. You know the ones with giant promises, well it can cloud your mind more than the weed can.

Chavez Jr seems to give two ****s about your golden platter; he owes Arum one fight, so he wants to fulfill that one fight.

Being free to dictate his own career, as he would be after the final Top Rank fight, is what seems to be Chavez's focus. $17 million and owing an extra fight, to Junior, made no sense.
