The ref certainly could have handled that situation better. Arturo Gatti could have handled the situation better himself. Looking at the ref when your opponent is still coming at you is dumb. There is no comparison here to the blatant fouls that Maidana committed repeatedly without being warned or penalized.

Gatti should have handled it better? I see that you omit Floyd in your post altogether! Why?

How can you say that those shots prior to the SUCKER PUNCH and the SUCKER PUNCH being "no comparison" to what Maidana did? Because of Floyd's dirty tactics, the ref had told Floyd to "STOP PUNCHING", Floyd instead continued and SUCKER PUNCHED Gatti and Gatti was knocked down on the play!

Floyd could have been deducted several points if not DQed for doing what he did.

I guess when Floyd said he had to be the referee as well he meant he would decide what is dirty and what isn't.
