They're both exciting fighters with the same number of losses, both lost when they stepped up to what was believed to be the next level..... I get that you like Matthysse more but he's not head and shoulders above Berto at this point in his career.

He is, esp at this point. Lucas is a top contender, Berto is not and will never be. Lucas' last loss was a close Dec to the champ, Berto got stopped by never top 10 ranked Karass

The purse disparity in these fights is as apalling as the talent disparity in said fights. There's nothing wrong with promoters/networks going into showcase mode after having a couple years where the top fighters had been fight one another, in order to rebuild potential excitement for fights between certain fighters, but the purses need to reflect the product being sold here.

If networks/sponsors are paying top dollar for **** fights like this -
#1- They're not going to be buying much longer.
#2- Fighters will expect even more money when they have to get in a serious fight.

It's same as the way the world is going right now. Pretty soon people will get 10-12$ an hour to flip burgers at McDonald's but the prices will go up with it so really that increase in pay won't do shiiiiit for the workers anyway as employers will raise prices to help with the raise in production cost.

Now Danny Garcia, Berto, Broner and Quillen will get multi-million dollar checks to fight anybody tough but again that appears to be good but the fact their opponents will get paid shiiiit in comparison and the harder fights won't get made so they can make easy money fighting bums shows the problem won't change here either.
