Román "Chocolatito" González is back in Nicaragua and there were hundreds of fans waiting for him at the Managua International Airport. This past Friday night in Tokyo, Gonzalez became a three division world champion by scoring a ninth round knockout over Japanese beltholder Akira Yaegashi to capture the flyweight crown of the World Boxing Council (WBC). With the victory Gonzalez became only the second triple world champion in the history of boxing in Nicaragua, with the great Alexis Arguello being the first boxer to reach that accomplishment. Gonzalez said he will make the first defense of his title on a date in November in Japan.

I'm happy for Gonzalez, he's a true great warrior and desserves all the praise he's getting and I wish him nothing but the best. I look forward to his next fight and hope that it gets televised on the major networks as it should.
