I don't care what Oscar says. They aren't his fighters and he doesn't call the shots.

On the face of it, this fight doesn't make much sense for Haymon. If it turns out Broner isn't good enough for Matthysse, it's likely to be even uglier than his defeat to Maidana. Losing is one thing, getting butchered is a lot worse.
If Haymon does make the fight however:
1. He may believe that the Maidana fight was just a blip, and that Broner is capable of defeating big punchers at the top contender level.
2. He may alternatively believe that he has spent enough money on Broner, and that's it's time for him to deliver or fuck off. In the event that he's not good enough and gets his ass kicked, Matthysse will get a major boost in popularity and becomes a significant asset. Look at the mileage Maidana has gotten from beating him.Comment

That's a horrible misconception. Mathysse, while also a big puncher, has a style more suited for Broner. Hes a mid range boxer-punched with rather slow feet and hands. He's dangerous don't get me wrong, but much more size and style appropriate for Broner. If Broner handles Lucas' power, we have a very good fight I wanna see.Comment

Good post.Chino has ridden the crest of a wave since that win.Lucas could very well benefit a win of similar stature and ride a wave thereafter too, although I don't see Haymon believing he has invested too much money and allows Broner to be dispensed off,a majoirty of boxing fans love to see Broner lose, likely one of the biggest if not the biggest selling point of the potential Lucas fight. On the face of it, this fight doesn't make much sense for Haymon. Oscar must really dislike Broner lol, After seeing what Maidana did to Broner I have no doubt that the far superior fighter in Matthysse would absolutely obliterate AB within 7 rounds
Lucas I think is the bigger puncher and also the more accurate of the two Argentinians.Comment

Maidana's a mid-range fighter too, but he's probably less concerned about setting stuff up properly than Matthysse. I agree though, if Broner can take Matthysse's power and isn't afraid to pull the trigger himself then it could get very interesting. That's a horrible misconception. What's his rush? He's a pro with 30 pro fights! He got smashed by Maidana and had 2 tuneup fights since then. Why not now? Broner said he wants it. Mathysse said he wants it. Oscar is willing to make it happen. The only person who can throw a wrench in this potential matchup is Haymon.
"Who is better at making sure the fights that everyone wants to see dont get made?"
