Comments Thread For: De La Hoya Ready To Make Broner vs. Matthysse

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya is going to work on a junior welterweight fight between Adrien Broner (29-1, 22KOs) and Lucas Matthysse (36-3, 34KOs).

Both fighters appeared in showcase fights on Saturday night at the U.S Bank Arena in Cincinnati. Broner won a twelve round decision over Emmanuel Taylor in the main event, and Matthysse stopped Roberto Ortiz in the second round in the co-feature. The event was seen as a prelude to a Broner-Matthysse showdown.

I admire Broner's heart but he gets hit flush way too much. Matthysse KO's him if they ever fight.

I don't know man I think it is a lock myself because that why they fought on the same card.

They both have the same promoter, adviser and fight on Showtime and they both want the fight, so I am looking forward to a good fight.

Luke got this IMO but I think it will be a very good fight

Doubt it happens next just because they were on the same card. Al Haymon cards have been like that lately - names vs opponents. Garcia and Peterson for example. There is a logical fight but haven't really heard of any potential fight between them next.

Yes but maybe Garcia is in the running for a Pac fight or maybe Mayweather so that is why the Peterson fight is not going to happen.

and it's true that Haymon fighters have been in against light opposition lately but i still think this one gets made next because Luke is not exactly a draw and Broner is maybe a ok draw in his hometown but not anywhere else

and both are not unbeaten so there is no trying to protect anyones "0" anymore and Haymon is in a win-win situation because he has both fighters so no matter who wins he wins.

Hopefully Pacquiao gets Garcia, and Broner gets Matthysse!

Haymon has put together some pitiful cards lately, surely he can't keep it up any longer.I know the fighters wanna get paid without taking huge risks every fight and deserve the cash fight every few,but if Danny,Broner or Lucas aren't in a competitive fight next numbers are gonna suffer as a consequence.that said it never did Haye any harm facing Barrett,Ruiz and Harrison,in fact it completely sold some fans he was invincible !!
