Comments Thread For: Broner: My Career Is Only Going to Get Bigger From Here

Adrien Broner was tagged often enough by Emmanuel Taylor to repeatedly draw a collective gasp from his hometown fans. There were plenty of nervous moments among a packed house of 8,115 at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, as fans stressed over the thought of their local hero suffering a major upset in Saturday’s Showtime-televised headliner.

The energy was already lively throughout the night, but shattered decibel levels when Broner rallied for a knockdown courtesy of a left hook at the tail end of a flurry late in round 12, moving on to take a well-earned unanimous decision win. The final scorecards suggested that he was going to win even without Taylor hitting the deck, but it proved to be a sigh of relief for the crowd and his team.

Funny how both Broner and Berto are getting carried away after beating B-level (at best) opposition.

Unless he becomes a bit more humble and realises he needs to move his head or his feet and not just stand up straight and in range of power punches, then he's going to get Maidana'd over and over again until he loses his star power or learns.

If he lets his hands go he can win a title at 140.

Only thing getting bigger is his jaw when he faces a puncher again.

Wonder if this Taylor fight knocked sense into Broner about the Mattysse call. Broner may have won the fight but Taylor won publicity. He was good but after broner he's better and will get some good fight offers after this.

Broner fights like his brain hasn't registerd the fact that he isn't bigger and stronger than his opponents anymore. He has the tools to be great but I'm not sure he has the focus and work ethic needed.

I know you are a Broner fan but have a bit of perspective.

Broner was dropped hard by Maidana. He lost the fight.

Personally, I give Broner props for toughing it out. He stuck around in a bruising fight, managed to get up despite being badly hurt, managed to stay on his feet when at times he was getting really badly tagged late in the fight, and was still able to pull out a 12th round like he did. He showed heart, he even won me over a little as a fan with it.

                  He still lost.

When I say he'll get Maidana'd, I mean he'll get hit hard, dropped, and lose fights. Whether or not he had spots of success in the Maidana fight is irrelevant.

Why would Maidana want a rematch? He clearly won the first fight. He's now had 2 super fights with Floyd. Broner is nobody to Maidana except a W on his resume.
