Absolutely ******ed post. The two situations couldn't be more different. Matthysse put him down with a clean punch in the middle of an exchange and the ref messed up the call on the count, it's not like the fighter did anything questionable. And people have said how much the ref ******. Where is the racism?

Ortiz was done. He was already holding for dear life before with those bodyshots and the liver shot just killed him. He spat his mouthpiece, he got up at count 9.99 and he didnt exactly complain about the fight being stopped. I dont see the controversy, its not as if he had anything left to do.

Did you guys notice the ref pick up the mouth piece after he waved the fight off

He like flipped it in the air and caught it with one hand

I took this as the ref acting a little cocky because he felt ortiz was pulling a Corrales with spitting out the mouth piece to buy time (who knows if that's why he spit it out)

IMO that's why Benji stopped the fight. He felt like ortiz didn't want to continue or was trying to bend the rules by spitting out the MP

Thats what I saw. The mouthpiece being spat out is usually a fighters way of saying "enough". During the count He appeared to look at Matthysse, the mouthpice and the ref, but didn't show interest in any.

He could have carried on, but I'm not sure He wanted to as that punch landed perfectly. Lucas measured for that shot during the previous exchange on those ropes 10 seconds before.
