He was going to get KO'ed anyways. The first round had too much respect and no clean punches landed. Then the first sign of some action, the fight gets waved off. That's UK'ish officiating there. A hard clean shot to the body lands and the fight gets waved off, despite Ortiz standing up and looking alright? Come on, i'm all for good stoppages and protecting fighters but that was over-officiating.

The stoppage was BS. He BEAT the count. What more do you need to say. Thats a fact.

The ref didn't stop Ortiz because he didn't beat the count, he stopped him because of the mouthpiece.

Look at The clock, technically he GOES DOWN at 30 seconds, and stands up at 17 seconds. DO the Math.

Matthysse Won because ORTIZ was down 13 seconds.FACT!

GTFOH - he saw the mouthpiece on the mat the whole time he was counting.

The only clock that matters is the ref's count and he beat it

In the UK, it's 8, 9 and OUT. You're out on ten. It's not 10 and then out. He reached the count of 10 as he was rising. It's called being "counted out in the act of rising".

The fighter beat the count. He should have been allowed to continue.

If he let the fight continue there would be no controversy.

(No need to be rude, because I'll never answer you the same way...)

Well, he saw it... We all saw it... But what was Ortiz' duty with that mouthpiece (according to the rules), before getting ready to fight again? Do you happen to know?
