1)He was hurt before the KD by previous body shots, look at the fight again and you see when he starts holding, he couldnt take it no more.
2)That liver shot killed him, you could see it in his face.
3)He spat his mouth piece, maybe trying to buy more time, maybe trully DONE, either way there wasnt much point in going on.
4)He got up at 9 1/2, when boxers trying to juice every second will usually get up at 8 just to avoid any close call.
5)Lets be honest, he didnt complain until later, he was clearly done.

i agree with the stoppage. dude had spit the mouthpiece, and wasn't standing up and ready by 10. you don't count to 10. you wave the fight off.

the guy is supposed to be ready by the time you say nine. he should be getting up at seven or eight.

He packed it in and collected his paycheque. He'll never see that kind of money again.

Back to fighting toilet cleaners in Mexico.

If you could have gotten up at 7 as opposed to 9, then get up idiot. By the time you resume fighting, you'll be at 15 seconds anyway! If you're fine at 7, then you're fine at 8 seconds; stand up as opposed to leaving it to the referee, who's seen enough knockdowns he knew that when you began to bend and stand up at 9, you wanted out.

Ortiz was slow, tentative, carrying his hands very high to protect himself. There was no going to round 3 when he took that paralyzingly hook to the liver, the same one Bhop stopped Oscar with. Wait till you see the look on Ortiz face going down. Lol!
You and your lover Benjy Esteves Jr. need to get together for a hump-a-thon. You two are obviously a pair of idiots.

Total b.s. stoppage. Benjy Esteves Jr. needs to be banned from the sport if he's that P poor of a ref not to even look at what he's doing. Complete idiot can't even give the guy a chance, even when it's OBVIOUS he could have carried on. I am sick of these lame excuses for refs skroo-ing with fights. And that would have been an amazing fight had it been allowed to play out. Benjy Esteves Jr. and Laurence Cole need to get the fek outta the sport. This is as bad as the Lara/Williams or Pac/Bradley I judging.

I thought it was a bad stoppage. You are running a risk of late it seems, waiting for the 9 count.

Lovely body shot from Lucas though.

exactly, the ref can't get to 10, the point is to beat the count before 10

the ref said nine and he wasn't all the way upright before 10, so he lost by KO

                  it's 8, 9, waved off. simple.

I don't know how the rules are written on this. When a guy is still down at 9 and then attempts to jump up before the ref reaches 10, he has only himself to blame.
This. Ortiz has nobody to blame but himself
