Eric Harding and the loss to Tarver in their rematch

As most of you know Harding outboxed and outfoxed Tarver in their 1st fight and clearly beat him.

In the rematch, he was doing it again, but got caught, hurt, and dropped in the 4th. It was one of those instances where the minute inbetween rounds wasn't helping and his legs were still gone when the 5 round started.

At the begining of the 5th round it was clear he was in trouble. He went down again from a hard shot, and got up to beat the count. He was clearly just about done, and had no legs.

The referee asked him "Do you want to continue? Yes or no?"

    His answer: "I'm from Phillie"

I don't think he would have been able to tell him where they were, but he answerd without missing a beat.

Saw that fight again a week ago and thought I'd share because it was a great moment despite being on his way to losing.

    Tough and proud guy.

Yeah, I remember that well. Eric and I have sparred many times and I was there at the first fight. People FORGET that Eric really whipped Tarver good in that first one. He actually was my sparring partner when I fought Michael Nunn and one year later he decided to leave Philadelphia to train at my gym here in Hartford, CT. and join the same stable. The rest is history

that was another one of those hail mary punches from Tarver. Tarver was losing again like you said and then landed a bomb, a big ass left. i've said it before Tarver is able to throw a big hail mary punch like that while moving out of the pocket and have his punch land as if he were in the pocket due to the length of his arms......

Harding was tough as nails though in that fight, he had tons of heart.......

I just couldn't believe that it seemed like an auto response.

He didn't seem to have all his wits about him, yet somehow the very notion the referee asked him if he wanted to quit offended him in that dazed state, and he replied to the question with where he was from.

        That's a great boxing story.

That is, by far, the funniest boxing quote I've ever read. I've seen it before, but it's hilarious every time I read it.

Also, Bozo, do you have that fight on your computer, or on tape or DVD? I think the next question is obvious.
