    I dont think I am a promoter.

Quillin just knocked back a career high pay day and relinquished his belt to duck another fighter.

You sound like Haymon the promoter and trying to excuse him ducking everyone in the division that could be a threat.

Quillin is a joke if you are fan of boxing but quiet obviously you would rather support a promoter, smh.

Can you explain to me how missing out on the biggest payday he's ever likely to get and dropping the belt which gives him most of his bargaining power is going to get him bigger fights?

The simple fact is that there are no fights at 160 which pay more than $1.4 mil - except perhaps Cotto, whose only possible reason for ever fighting Quillin would be the title that Kid's just dropped.

In any case it ought to be obvious that Quillin with a belt is worth more $s than Quillin without a belt, so this can't really be sold as being in his long term interests.

And just what are these big fights that Quillin's supposed to get anyway - Jacobs vs Quillin would be biggish in NYC, but neither are really headliners anyway... aside from that and possibly the Soliman - Taylor winner there just ain't any big $ or legacy fights out there, and as the challenger in both cases Quillin probably won't see a third of what he would have got for fighting Korobov.

Also, can you think of any good reason why Quillin couldn't have fought his mando taken his $1.4 mil and then moved on to these imaginary 'bigger and better things' with a reasonable chance of still having a belt and with his reputation less tarnished.

dude once again, you dont know ****. you dont know what kind of offers he has, how much money he could potentially make with the new path he chose. so shut up already, stop acting like you run his office. you would have to be absolutely ******ed to think that he turned down 1.4 mil. because hes scared. whats the worst thing that could happen if he fought? exactly, he'd lose his belt but he'd still make that money. so how does it make sense even from a financial standpoint to say that hes ducking so and so when he just gave up the belt for free. exactly it makes no ****in sense. he gave up the belt because he feels like he can make a lot more money that way. stop speculating on what fight could get him whatever amount of money, you dont know ****. he made a conscious decision to give up the belt and to leave 1 1/2 mil on the table because he feels theres bigger things out there for him. if you question that you are ******ed. because it makes no ****in sense, at all. wait until you know a little bit more about his plans before you call him out. if theres 2 things he is NOT then its 1) being scared to fight and 2) being too rich and having made too much money. wait for his next announcements, then comment again. right now you dont know ****. he didnt leave 1.5 mil on the table and gave up the belt because he was bored. oh wait, he's "scared". of course. bunch of idiots..

Didn't quillin retire? I'm pretty sure he retired. So we should stop talking about him now and let him pursue his new career.

For all that is being said about Quillin, I think it's widely understood that this choice was probably made by his adviser, Haymon. Haymon effectively has complete power over Quillins career and choice of fights.

This is speculation of course, but my feeling is that Haymon may have stiffed Quillin for reasons of his own - perhaps trying to spoil Roc Nation's boxing debut, or even some more byzantine rationale.

The point is Haymon can't guarantee Quillin better fights and more money; Quillin could lose his next two fights and drop from relevance, he could receive a career ending injury in or out of the ring. In boxing, more perhaps than in any other sport it's impossible to plan far in advance - potential opponents lose or get injured, get other opportunities, etc.

You're assuming Quillin must have some sensible justification for such an apparently nonsensical move, I'm drawing the conclusion that this is just as bad for Quillin as it looks, but that Haymon has a strategic motive for throwing Kid C under the bus.

IMO Haymon told him that he could get him not one but two title shots (assuming he beats Jacobs). If Taylor beats Soliman (not impossible) then you know he could make it happen. The fact that he got Soliman to fight Taylor in the first place tells me he could also get Soliman to fight Quillin. Either that or he guaranteed him Jacobs and would pay him the purse difference.

But since Haymon represents Taylor and Jacobs as well he could have made that same promise for after the Korobov fight.

Besides, Haymon doesn't have to promise Quillin anything, Kid Cs essentially signed his career over to Haymon if the details that came out of his contract (in the Main Events lawsuit) are accurate. If Haymon says there's no fight, there's no fight.

Mega co-sign. Dudes act like they have inside knowledge on what goes on behind close doors. I think they get upset because they can't know **** or dictate how a boxer wants to best run their own career. This is one reason I like Floyd Mayweather. He told Arum and crybaby boxing fans to kiss his ass and now he's mega rich and the A-side of boxing. Even his haters make him rich.
