One other thing about Calzaghe and what this fight did for him...

I am as big a Lacy supporter as some others...and still have faith in him...

however, there are some saying that "it was a good win, but Lacy was hyped"...etc...

well I don't want to get into my defense about the whole overrated/hype situation...

but I think people should consider not only that Calzaghe beat Lacy...but the fact that Lacy was a betting favorite, considered the biggest threat of Calzaghe's career, young and strong.....

    and...

most of all consider the WAY Joe fought and won...

    He was not dirty
He didn't "squeak" by with a home decision
    He didn't run from Lacy
He showed everything that he does do well x2
He didn't just outpoint Lacy, he beat Lacy up badly

I think this fight did a HECK of a lot for Joe C's career and legacy...it somewhat legitemizes his career and claims...

those claims being that he looks uninspiring vs uninspiring opponents, but can step it up vs good opponents who are threats, he has world class speed, world class heart and grit, confidence, and while he does slap some punches, he ALSO tightens up the right power shots, and is always in great fighting condition...

all of that helps his claims and cases when mythically matching him up vs past and present greats around his weight class

props to Lacy for calling for the fight for years, traveling overseas, being gracious in defeat, showing Joe respect, and most of all...saying "I'll be back"...and I believe he will be too as opposed to running out of the ring and barely/never being heard from again (Olajide, Camacho Jr., Bojado, Ricky Williams, etc)...

of course props to Joe C for stepping up his game, beating Lacy, and beating Lacy up with confidence and flash...
