Comments Thread For: Marquez's Trainer Likes Idea of Miguel Cotto Fight at 150

Hall of Fame trainer Ignacio "Nacho" Beristain, who works with former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40KOs), likes the idea of a super-fight with Puerto Rico's Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs), who is also a four division world champion and currently holds the WBC title at 160-pounds. But Nacho only likes that fight if a reasonable catch-weight is agreed upon.

Not for nothing but I always wanted to see this fight. Idk about the weight situation. JMM above 147 is crazy. And Cotto fighting under 154 after winning the WBC title at 160 is ridiculous. One thing for sure though is that I would rather see them fight eachother some way, some how than not see them fight at all again this year.

Every fighter from welterweight to super middleweight wants Miguel Cotto.

He really did become the King with that Martinez win.

IDK what to say about this one. Sounds great on paper but Cotto might just be too much for Marquez this late in his career. Let's see where this goes, most likely nowhere though…

Marquez fought Pacquiao close two fights and then had Memo and that alone has made him overrated...

Take that away from Marquez his style is not really built to beat any top fighters..you can see that in his resume...

Look at who he has beaten, lost to and look at the gift decision he received against Barrera.

With random blood-testing, Cotto mops the floor with the overrated piss-drinking cheater...

I agree with some people saying "Marquez brings NOTHING to the table for Cotto" . But at the same time, Marquez does have the WBO International Welterweight belt.

Now only if Cotto wants welterweight status again, which seems doubtful. Maybe Marquez should fight Ruslan or Maidana. Or fight the steroid needle.

                    who knows....
