Comments Thread For: Roach: Cotto Said No To The Philippines, Shared Camp

After scoring a surprising victory over former Middleweight kingpin Sergio Martinez, many wondered how Miguel Cotto would follow up his history making win which made him the first Puerto Rican fighter to win titles in four different weight classes.

Top Rank had informed Cotto would return before the end of the year on a December 13th date with an opponent yet to be determined. BoxingScene however was advised by Cotto’s trainer Freddie Roach that Cotto had chosen to pass up on the December date and would not be fighting again in 2014.

What happens when both of them fight in the spring?
Manny in June/April and Cotto in May?

And why should cotto have to go train there. Roach really need to talk to manny, when its training PAC needs to follow suit and come train at the wild card gym. Boxing is his biggest income right now and he's starting to act selfish. He needs to take training serious, can't be training 3 weeks here and then 2 weeks over there.

Who knows...he may or may not. Both of them should just stay out of Wildcard so it works out for everyone

Manny's next fight is in Macau. His training camp in the Philippines is literally just a small flight away from China.

Good, King Cotto shouldn't take a back seat to anyone. He deserves a throne and a crown everytime he enters the Wild Card. Same with Pacquiao.

“He can’t do both (boxing and basketball),” said Arum via the Manila Bulletin, a local daily in the Philippines.

Arum added that he will try to convince his ward to move the training camp to the United States and ideally avoid the distraction in Pacquiao’s home country.

We’ll talk to Manny if it is possible that he spend six weeks in Los Angeles,” said Arum in the same article.

I Don't think Manny takes Algeri seriously. Can you blame him? He and Freddie didn't want this fight, they wanted Danny Garcia. Maybe this is Manny's way of saying to Arum, "Get me the fights I ask for!"

The Philippines is a hella hot, if you train there, your stamina would improve dramatically compared to boxing in the U.S.
