Comments Thread For: Team Canelo Confirm Clottey is The Frontrunner

Edison Reynoso, manager of Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 31KOs), confirms that former champion Joshua Clottey (38-4, 22KOs) is the current frontrunner for his boxer's next fight, which may take place on December 6th at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Reynoso says there could be a conflict with the date, so nothing is set in stone and it could move to another location and a date in late November. Clottey is coming off a dominating decision victory over former champion Anthony Mundine.

This must be for Clottey's "WBA International light middleweight title". WBA is a joke.

I haven't seen anything from Clottey since the Pacquiao fight, really, so I don't know how he's looking. But, if he hasn't dropped off too much this could be a pretty interesting match-up.

Depends what Clottey shows up. If it's the one that came to fight against Cotto and Mudine then I don't mind this fight as Clottey could give Canelo hell!

But if he's just looking for one last paycheck like against Manny then to hell with this, bring on Kirkland!

Glad to see that all the Kirkland talk was just that...talk! That would've been ****** to fight Kirkland before a big mega-fight vs. Cotto.

Why risk getting KOed by Kirkland when you can fight Pacquiao's leftovers? They know Cotto and a huge payday awaits...

LOL @ which Clottey shows up... The same Clottey showed up...but Clottey knew he'd get KOed if he didn't fight like a Ninja Turtle against Pacquiao... Pac would have done the same to Clottey any night of his career... Clottey received what should have been Floyd's ass whoopin'

He wanted an opponent who would come to fight... yet he is considering Joshua Grand Shell Clottey? I truly don't get it.

Kirkland is the logical choice. If he is as good as he says he is, he will be able to counter Kirkland coming in and get an impressive stoppage.

Perfect opponent to look great against. Canelo will get to tee off on clottey the whole fight. If I was cotto I'd jus wait around for May to fight canelo, no point of risking that fight.
