    I hope that they preserve his gym as well. Last I heard it's been turned into a discount furniture store, but there are some people (like Hopkins) who want to restore it and turn it into a community center.

            this is ridiculous. frazier's impact on boxing, and america as a whole, is exponentially greater than hopkins. i'm sure there are plenty of people in philidelphia who have no idea who hopkins is. boxing is now a niche sport, and has been throughout hopkins tenure. it used to be the most popular sport in the country.


            joe frazier was a bonafide household name. he was one of the most popular athletes on the planet in the late 60's and early 70's.

                    Should they ever make a statue out of him, it would be based on him landing the decisive final flying headbutt on Mikkel Kessler. That was a perfect headbutt. Ripping a face to shreds without penalty.
