      Yes.

Ring warriors of the past like Tyson, Foreman, Frazier and Ali fought overseas.

But modern boxers like Mayweather and Ward are over-protected and afraid.

Ward has fought outside of the US, in the Caymans I believe.

ODH never had to fight outside of the US.

Lets put this statement to the test. Shall we? According to Ring.

Heavyweight- Wlad (Best American, Wilder at 2)

Cruiserweight- Hernandez (No Americans in the top ten)

Light Heavy- Stevenson (Best American B-Hop at 2)

Super Middleweight- Ward (I know he is'nt ranked but lets be real, he is the best)

Middleweight- Cotto (Best American Quillen at 3)

Junior Middleweight- Toss up, but highest ranked American is Trout at 3.

Welterweight- Floyd (Possibly the strongest division for Americans atm. Toss up between it and Junior welter)

Junior Welter - Toss up, but highest American is Peterson at 2.

Lightweight- Toss up and the highest American is Bey at 5

Junior Lightweight- Uchiyama and no Americans in the top ten.

Featherweight- Toss up and highest American is Russell at 3.

Junior Feather- Rigo with LSC as the top American at 2

Everything below JR. Feather, Americans are almost non-existent. So Americans can lay claim to 2 divisions currently. But we somehow have the best fighters? Hell in roughly half the divisions we don't even have a top ten fighter, much less a champion.

Three who come to mind are:

              Marco Huck
              Floyd Mayweather
              Andre Ward

Who are some of the others?

Golovkin, Kovalev and Froch have all had title fights in other countries.
Huck just fought in the US...

Wilder hasn't yet fought outside of the US with that wbc "world" title around his waist.
Quillin never defended his WBO title outside of the US.
I'll just name Bradley, Alexander, Porter and Broner. Could name quite a few more.

carl froch retired literally within a month of andre ward's comeback . the biggest money was probably going ot be in wembley, and that's a fight that may have realistically happened. again, froch retired within a month of andre ward coming back.

floyd mayweather made 275 million dollars fighting in las vegas. the city generated hundreds of millions in ******** and tourism revenue. ringside seats were going for six figures. that happens in no place on earth other than las vegas. hell, floyd f#cking lives there

the biggest fighter to fight outside of the US recently is manny pacquiao, who fought in macau as he started to slip and fight bad opponents. they [chinese government / business] paid an ungodly amount to bring him over there.

he's been in the states when he's fought decent competition.

Larry Holmes never did. Kind of a big deal considering how many defenses he made. Virgil Hill was bad about fighting in North Dakota but not always. I'd say Ward is one of the worst.
