  • Comments Thread For: Maidana Says Conditioning Won't Be Factor in Rematch

As training camp for his Sept. 13 rematch against Floyd Mayweather Jr. winds down, Marcos Maidana feels much more confident about his preparation than he did as their first fight approached.

Maidana claims that spending just five weeks with Robert Garcia at his trainer’s Oxnard, Calif., gym was a factor in the Argentine brawler wearing down during the second half of a 12-round fight Mayweather won by majority decision May 3 at MGM Grand. With his second child, a daughter they named Emilia, on the way before he met Mayweather (46-0, 26 KOs) nearly four months ago, Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs) began training camp for the biggest fight of his career in Argentina so that he could spend additional time with his wife, Mariana Zilli.

****m Richardson said it best, "This kid's gift is his conditioning." If you're not in better..i said BETTER shape than Mayweather you can't beat him.

Why are Maidana and Garcia lying about only having a 5 week training camp for the first fight?

Anybody that followed the first fight knows that Maidana had a full 8 week training camp last time out.

Conditioning is probably the only factor when fighting Floyd. If it's one thing that I always gave both Floyd and prime Pacman, was their conditioning. It is some of the best I've ever seen.

Maidana's pace started to drop after five rounds in the first fight. Against a fighter as elusive as Floyd that's a big problem, and his endurance would need to improve dramatically for it not to be a problem this time too.

I was thinking the same. The mental pressure is all on Floyd. He has to impress this time and leave no doubt.

Love got ktfo, Floyd is next

Maidana just has to not waste so much energy on ineffective punches. Still be aggressive, still bully, but throw five punches when you have him in sight, not ten.
