John defeats Marquez!

Unbeaten WBA featherweight champion Chris John (37-0-1, 20 KOs) has retained his title with a unaminous decision over former unified champion Juan Manuel Marquez (44-3-1, 33 KOs). John was able to effectively work from the outside to win 116-110, 117-111 and 116-112. Marquez was deducted two points for low blows late in the fight. For John, it was his third defense of the title, and with two of them being over the likes of Marquez and Derrick Gainer. John must now be considered at the top of the 126lb ranks. More to come....
