  • Comments Thread For: Bernard Hopkins: This is The Biggest Fight of The Year

WBA/IBF light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (55-6-2, 32KOs), 49-years-young, is knee deep in training for his unification with WBO kingpin Sergey Kovalev (25-0-1, 23KOs). Their fight is set for November 8th at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. HBO will televised.

Three titles at stake, and either the historic career of Hopkins will come to a close and the legend of Kovalev will grow - or Hopkins will once again shock the critics by defeating another fighter who is viewed as the next big thing.

The writer of this thread has it exactly right.

One will be elevated the other deflated.

I have Kovalev by KO from rounds 1-4

    Pressures on KOVALEV !

IF he don't KO Hop, if it looks messy, Kovalev loses, he must shine and KO the old man.

If we could resurrect a fighter to fight Hop it would be the Mongoose

Yeah, I agree. If it goes 12 with lots of clinching and hugging, Bernard wins. Kovalev needs a stoppage. Looking forward to the fight.

Sure as hell the biggest fight in my mind. Two top flight fighters in their division actually agreeing to fight each other is a big enough deal. Make one of them a 50 year old Bernard Hopkins going against the most dangerous puncher in the sport and we will probably see something special.

If it goes to decision bhop will win no matter how much clinching or whining he does. Kov has to ko him

When one of the biggest fights coming up involves current Hopkins, you know it's a shitty year for the sport.

In a day, this won't have 1/10th the comments as Floydie/Maidana or Pac/Algieri... so no Bernard, you're just an old blowhard who gets more boring every day. You like to go on and on blabbering way too much. You fight well, albeit with way too many clinches, but you should concentrate on fighting, not talking.

As for the fight, it goes to Kov within 6, or to BHop if it's a decision. Kov HAS to be more aggressive than ever in this one.

Most def it's a fabulous match up and a big hand to Bernard for stepping up (although I think the prolonged negotiations with Stevenson's camp reduced his options).

I'm expecting a close UD for Bhop, an ugly schooling.

Krusher can win with relentless pressure behind a quick, stiff jab; and a pace that forces the veteran to look to the referee for help.

Hopkins is a do anything to win fighter. If Kovalev hurts him he will stall and act like it was a headbutt or groin shot or something then go into clinch mode.

If Kovalev KOs him it will need to be a brutal flash KO ala martinez-williams where he gives Hopkins no chance to go to plan B.
