  • Comments Thread For: Team Gonzalez: Yaegashi Will Not Last Eight Rounds

Former minimumweight and junior flyweight world champion Roman "Chocolatito" González of Nicaragua finished up his final sparring session for the upcoming fight on the 5th of September against the Japanese champion Akira Yaegashi, who holds the world flyweight title of the World Council Boxing (WBC).

After the sparring, "Chocolatito" (39-0, 33 KOs) completed 185 rounds, a figure that says a lot about the preparation and seriousness with which Roman is taking his world title bout against Yaegashi (20-3, 10 KOs) . But this time, unlike other preparations, he has a special focus on becoming only the second fighter in his country to win a world title in three weight divisions. [Click Here To Read More]

The best wins on Gonzalez record are fighters that moved up in weight to fight him (Fransisco Rodriguez Jr & Juan Fransisco Estrada). Gonzalez has world class skill but its going to be interesting if his power carries over to flyweight. Should be a awesome fight.

I dont like when fighters or their team talk like this. Especially those who constantly KO their opponents. Makes me think they've fallen in love with their power. What if their opponent doesn't go down or out? Then again, they could just be hyping up the fight.

Earn..you may just wannt check a fact or two there Estrada certainly wasn't going up in weight to fight Gonzalez...and actually Rodrgiuez Jr wasn't either. I'd personally consider wins over Niida and Takayama to be almost as good as well.

In fairness Gonzalez isn't the brash type, I don't think we can blame him for what his camp say here. Roman's always been classy as shown in his interviews and the genera behaviour towards Yaegashi when the men were in the ring together earlier this year....

...saying that I don't expect Akira's face to hold up much more than 8 rounds.

Your right Estrada was the only one that moved down in weight to fight Gonzalez. Chocalito should win this fight im just hoping for a good 6 rounds.

Akira is a tough, strong bastard with a good chin. I expect roman to win but it will be a tough fight.

That's the big IF factor of the fight he tends to bust up/swell a lot and Gonzalez is well... A Unrelenting Monster.
