  • Absolutely nothing wrong with those who picked Lacy as well as Joe

I know it will never stop, but it just annoys me when people think they are the know it all of Boxing when a prediction they make turns out in their favor...

Just like will Corrales/Castillo II...people had every fight to pick Castillo as he just overall seemed the stronger and technically more skilled of the two in the first fight, but got hurt in the end...

then people had every fight to pick Corrales as Corrales has shown to be one of the only men at that division to hold the power to hurt the iron chinned Castillo and had the quicker hands....

but in the end, Castillo came out on top...that does NOT mean that fans who picked Corrales "don't know boxing"

"I told you so" claims are just not necessary because in this sport you NEVER know what will happen...

Lacy/Calzaghe...both went into this fight 50/50 with a chance to win...Lacy had a chance because of power, his improvement, activity, good chin, and the fact that Joe has seemed untested and inactive for years...

Calzaghe had a chance because of his speed, movement, workrate, the fact that Lacy himself seemed untested on "that level", the fact that the fight was taking place in Joe's backyard, etc...

In the end, my point is that fans have NO clue what WILL or WILL NOT actually happen...we make educated guesses...like an educated guess would be that Mayweather would cream Judah at this stage...but who knows whether Judah could land a bomb...

Mayweather vs Hatton will be in the same boat as Joe/Lacy in my opinion....50/50...Floyd will most likely enter the favorite in any fight he has from here on out (lose, retire - like Jones)...but I know if Hatton loses that fight, he is "overrated" according to some...if Mayweather loses that fight, he is "overrated" to some...

I know this is just the way Boxing + internet + fans work...but just letting you knows guy, anything can happen in that ring...

I predicted a Lacy win, but knew Joe COULD win...however I didn't imagine it should be a shutout, beatdown, with Lacy going down...

    It's just Boxing

Sorry, I had to vent a bit...

*also be realistic guys...why do some act so surprised that Lacy was outboxed...when did people ever get the impression that he was some masterful boxer? Sometimes a guy is a slugger with good power...no one ever called Lacy a great boxer who would outbox Joe...it was expected that if Joe wins a decision, it would be because he outboxed Lacy

I think Joe's win, to give Joe credit, was due more in part to him fighting brilliantly...he didn't fight wild and crazy like he did vs a Mitchell...he fought the perfect fight to fight vs someone with Lacy's style and rawness...

people just love throwing the "overrated" term around everytime a fighter loses...

Toney could beat Rahman, Valuev, Brewster within a year, win rounds 1-12 1/2 vs Wlad, get KOed in the final 10 sec by a big Wlad right hand and still be dubbed overrated...

it is just an easy term that some have copied in their clipboard on their PC's and MACs waiting to be pasted after every fight...

        ...

Give Joe credit for fighting a brilliant fight...

Give Jeff credit for getting as far as he has gotten, making the fight, traveling to Joe's home COUNTRY, always being in shape, and trying...

        ....

Fans just don't know the half of it when it comes to stepping in a Boxing ring...you win some, you lose some, you get blown out, you have impressive performances...

in the end, SOMETHING has to happen...
