According to manager Joel De La Hoya, super featherweight contender Francisco 'Bandido' Vargas (20-0-1, 14 KO), who holds the NABF and WBO International super featherweight championships, could potentially fight Australian Will 'Wild Will' Tomlinson (21-1-1, 12 KOs), as long Tomlinson defeats Alberto Cupido on Saturday night in Cancun, Mexico.

Vargas is poised to return to action on the undercard of Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez's return, which is going to take place on November 29 or December 6 at a venue to be determined.

What's the point of that fight? Tomlinson probably won't bring it and make it an exciting fight, so to me Vargas would be taking a step backwards in his career.

I'd rather see Francisco Vargas vs. Sergio Thompson or Juan Carlos Burgos.

I'd really want to see Vargas vs. Takashi Miura, Orlando Salido, or Rances Barthelemy, but the top fighters don't fight each other these days.
