WBO/WBA junior featherweight champion Guillermo "El Chacal" Rigondeaux (14-0) has been quiet since his first round blitzkrieg of Sod Kokietgym (63-3) in July in Macau, China. Rigondeaux's promotional contract expired with Top Rank also expired after the victory.
Rigondeaux has been hailed by boxing purists for his near flawless defensive wizardry but has also received criticism from fans who prefer to watch a brawl than a technical fight which makes his worth to a promoter somewhat difficult to project.
BoxingScene.com caught up with the two-time Olympic gold medalist to get an update on his current promotional status. Various media outlets have speculated that Rigondeaux is on the verge of signing with different promoters but Rigondeaux insists that he and his team are still weighing their options.
