The biggest misconception in these forums is that a fighter on PED's gains magical punching power. Punching power is 95% technique and in your bones. PED's advantages would be for a gain in stamina and maintaining punching power for deeper into a fight, as you would have more stamina and hence, keep your technique.

While this makes me trust Conte less, it does not make make me trust VADA less.
Conte has never consulted with USADA. USADA wants nothing to do with him and was in the crusade to bring him down. Conte also has never consulted with WADA either. Again, it is unusual for anti-doping organisations to consult with these guys unless it's to find out what other athletes are their clients.

VADA is the only organisation that Conte has been associated with from the beginning.

The funny thing is that, the first time anyone publicly had heard about VADA is when Victor Conte opened his mouth about it. And he implied that he was spearheading the creation of VADA. When VADA was finally formed, he suddenly took a back seat.

Then mysteriously, his fighters always are 'sponsored' by VADA. Meaning, they get tested for free, even if it's year-round. That's remarkable for someone who is allegedly not associated or does not play a significant role in that organisation.

          are you sure?

BALCO founder Victor Conte met with World Anti-Doping Agency boss Dick Pound Wednesday, providing information regarding athletes and drug use.

Pound wasn't surprised Conte wouldn't divulge names, but expressed confidence in Wednesday's meeting being the first of many.

"[It was a] worthwhile meeting and quite informative," Pound told CBC News.

"But we are still at the relationship-building stage. So don't expect instant information."
doesn't this mean that conte at one point was helping provide the chairman of WADA with information on how to catch cheats?

EPO has nothing to do with power. EPO is about endurance and stamina. If Maidana is on EPO he should ask for a refund.

Come was a consultant for VADA, who clearly also pushed VADA's testing program.

That doesn't change the fact that it's the best drug testing program there is.

If your going to consult with someone, you should probably consult with one of the most successful ped dealers in the world. His products worked and he never got caught.

not only consultant but he was and still is VADA's biggest supporter and cheerleader. i think when people hear conte talk positively about VADA they mistake that for him being a big part of it.

this is a good article for people who want to know the truth about VADA and its founding, etc.

VADA is still the #1 drug testing organization in boxing and they prove this time and time again.

                  Take a break...

Is there any top fighter left under a year long random drug test?
                  I don't recall...

                  So take a break.

VADA is the only organisation that Conte has been associated with from the beginning.
For four years, Victor Conte was among the world's best drug dealers, a man who, as founder of BALCO, "was about helping athletes to circumvent" Olympic style d

USADA executive chief, Travis Tygart, told BoxingScene.com that he would embrace the opportunity to work with Conte, whom he classified as a former "Evil chemist."

"My team tries to think like the cheaters who try to defeat our testing policies and to get away with cheating. We're in the skepticism game, which is what we do for a living, and that's what our clean athletes expect us to do," said Tygart.

"Intelligent testing is based on not only peer reviews from top academic entitites, but also, from information gained from real-life dopers or people who have assisted dopers with information," said Tygart. "When we hear that people are doping or taking this or that, that information isn't coming from academic people, it's coming from people who are real-life dopers or who are assisting real-life dopers."

Tygart's work therein, has involved meeting "early on with Victor Conte," he said.

"We have attempted to meet with him and we're all in favor of that. We frequently meet with athletes or coaches or evil chemists or chemists who have made mistakes," said Tygart. "It's a smart intelligent way to run an effective program. We do this day in or day out, regardless of whether it has to do with boxing."

In my opinion, they would've been hoping Conte would snitch out his clients. As I said, it is really unusual for them to meet up with these guys unless it's to find out who are their clients (athletes).

It's the only reason why Conte did jail time and guys like Memo Heredia did not. Because Conte wouldn't rat out all of his clients (although he confirmed some of them later on after the jail stint).
