Well, I'm not comparing American media to yours pal. It's no secret theirs is a lot worse and comical.
But the point is... How convenient it is to call Cali a brit when years ago they dismiss him as another "welsh" fighter.
How convenient is that?
u can be welsh and brit
english and brit
and scottish and brit so if someone calls him british they are right if another cals him welsh they are also right
I dont think anyone has ever claimed he WASNT british, I read many saying he wasnt English but saying he's not british cos he's welsh is like saying UK is not Europe. This is more or less like saying Jeff Lacy isnt black. Him being british or not isnt a matter of opinion, its a fact.
Now wether the English were supporting for him before or not and is now supporting for him now is a different story. I know in another forum alot of English were rooting against him cos Lacy claimed to be english therefore making it England vs Wales. Never once have I seen someone claim he wasnt British.
Someone find me one article, one post, thread that claims he isnt british?
It is indeed funny how the rascism of the mainland Britain and the hypocrisy of their media works.
In truth Cali deserved a better treatment from these B?>tards than what they treated him. He's no big name in Brit and is just dismissed as another fighter.
It's funny how the hypocrisy sets in when he wins against Lacy when we all know had he lost he would have been labeled that "welshman" lost.
Wales is a part of Great Britain, so Joe is British. But he is not English. England and Wales are different countries, so England can not and should not claim him as their own. It's like Americans claiming Canadien fighters as our own. Get the point?
On a second note, who really gives a ****? Lacy tried for the first time ever to actually fight someone and we found out he isn't the fighter everyone thought he was. Great fighters rise to the occasion, and this proved Lacy is not a great fighter. Case closed, live goes on.
I had numerous arguments on here with people saying that this fight was in Calzaghe's home town. Well it was in ENGLAND so if he's not ****ing BRITISH then it wasnt on his home turf. So well done to Joe for travelling abroad and winning a world title.
IS THAT WHAT YOU'RE SAYING!? YOU MUST BE!! JOE IS BRITISH AND WELSH. END - ****ING - OF
Thank you... I wasn't the only one who noticed it...

That is utter crap! He's the second most popular boxer in Britain. Hatton is more popular because he is from Manchester which is a real fight town and because he has a very exciting style. Calzaghe had a big 'Good lucky Joe' column in The Sun, all the papers did big spreads on it - it received good coverage. All my mates - all English - watched it cheering on Joe. I travelled 500 miles to go watch it live, and I'm English. It was the fifth time i've seen Joe live.
Its different over here than you think. When England play cricket, the Welsh support us. When Wales play someone at a sport - unless its us - we support them.
You are talking about something you know nothing about. The media was one hundred per cent behind Joe because guess what - the press are BRITISH not ENGLISH!!! They wouldnt sell all that many papers or get many viewers/listeners if they slagged off whole countries that they broadcast to, would they!?
