You've got it all wrong...
You must know that on the fight night there is a opponent's representative who stays in the fighter locker room and assist the hand wrapping and the gloves -- which both have to be according to the rules...

In Maidana's case (as we all know) it wasn't the fight night and the gloves were MXs which are legally approved (and Wlad asked to change that particular glove with less padding, not the gloves' brand ) ... In fact a TMT fighter was using MXs on that specific card, as Mayweather didn't ask him to change them...

Yes, this is the distinction between the two cases, and I understand having them change the brand is mostly a ***** move... but at the point Vitali objects to Wach's glove, it would have been approved by the commission the day before. Maybe it was an oversight the day before,maybe Wach was attempting to cheat, maybe it was mindgames and comissioners, who had approved the gloves the day before, went along with Vitali who is a larger figure in boxing Idk...I wasn't really trying to make it about the Klits.....just meant to say that last minute switches sometimes happen. Sometimes it's in the contract, sometimes it's not. (Personally, I don't think Maidana deserved that level of scrutiny)

You have to ask why the self-proclaimed TBE would would even worry about what brand of gloves his opponents wears. I don't believe Kotelnik, Khan or Alexander insisted on a pair of specific gloves for Maidana, so why would a much more talented boxer in Mayweather hold such concerns over a boxer who he claims is an inferior puncher to recent opponents?

Am I to understand that your stance is no top fighter picks specific gloves for other fighters? I'd hate to brake it to you but Floyd's request would put him on a list that includes fighters such as Tommy the hit man Hearns, among others.

Hoarse hair has always been recognized as being very dangerous for both boxers. There are more and more boxers refusing to allow opponents to fight with MX gloves because it does give an advantage to the power puncher. Imagine a fighter who defends in the "mummy" style to be allowed to fight in over sized gloves with forearm pads, would that be fair to his opponent.

The way things are going right now I wouldn't be surprised if these gloves are eventually banned.

People easily understand that issues such as (random) drug testing, ring size, gloves are to be agreed upon by both fighters from the very beginning and they may be stipulated into the fight contract...

But Mayweather denying Maidana's MX gloves only one day before the fight created a dangerous "binding precedent": that is Mayweather now feels entitled to change whatever it crosses his mind (i.e. hand wraps, gloves, shoes, shorts, mouth shields, groin protectors, a.s.o.) just because he pays...

Fortunately he can't pay the public to buy his fights.

Youve never boxed and you obviously young and naive , the gloves Maidana will wear are punchers gloves , the issue for them is not the type of glove the issue was not being used to wearing them , the custom gloves Maidana brought at the last hour in the first fight was an attempt to cheat just like Margarito was caught by ****m they picked up on the tampered with Maidana gloves ,,,,,,,

Now would you let them wear want they want after they tried a stunt like that , I doubt it , and Floyd not allowing him has nothing to do with the glove because Cotto wore the MX brand against Floyd .

This is a win-lose situation for the Maidana Team. Win because they have more time to train with the gloves theyre gonna use, as stated by Garcia. Lose because its still not the preferred gloves by Maidana as stated above.

I kinda thought Mayweather would allow the gloves but it won't change the outcome. Maidana did fine without his favorite gloves the last time and now he got a chance to break them in. If Maidana wins no one will say a word about the gloves so no one should say anything about them if he loses.

I don't buy fights... I'm living in Europe and in my country we have a cable sport channel which (legally) aired all your PPV fights...
Of course I knew what Dela Hoya did (I was rooting for Floyd at that time)...
As I remember, Oscar made Floyd switch his Winnings for puncher's Cleto Reyes... But the gloves were in the INITIAL CONTRACT!!! Oscar didn't make Floyd change his gloves 24 hours before the fight!!!
