Comments Thread For: Rubio: Every Tactic Needed For a Machine Like Golovkin

WBC interim-middleweight champion Marco Antonio Rubio (59-6-1, 51KOs) says every possible tactic will be necessary to defeat WBA/IBO beltholder Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27KOs) in their HBO televised match on October 18th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Rubio is training with veteran coach Robert Garcia in Oxnard.

"The plan will be to work very hard in the gym, obviously. We have to use many tactics, not just one, not just jab or feint - but we have to use everything that exists in boxing to automatically win against a machine like him. Most important thing here is going to be the strength and conditioning," Rubio told Alfredo Berrios.

I still wonder how would GGG react to getting hit flush by a power puncher. No, not stevens.

What Was Wrong With Stevens' Punching Power???

Everyone talked about Stevens moving down from '68 to '60, he had brute power destroying everyone, and would expose GGG. Now since that didn't work out, Stevens power wasn't credible , and Rubio's is. Who will you choose next, once it's established that Gennady went right thru Rubio for his 16th straight KO win? Klitschko? Chavez won't fight GGG. Cotto is going to avoid GGG. Soliman decided to avoid GGG, and fight Jermain Taylor and all his medical concerns despite recently defeating some tomato cans on his comeback. Ward has decided he'd rather lose 3 times in court to Goosen than take a chance with Gennady. We will eventually learn only Canelo has the ballz to piece together an epic fight with GGG, as soon as he beats Cotto. Rubio hits hard, and so did Stevens. But when GGG imposes his relentless attack and they aren't getting their punches off, start coming up with who's next to "test" Gennady.

OK. Rubio is slower than that last guy, he may hit harder, but 3G is going to land something massive. If Rubio can keep his feet, then it's on.
