geeze. that seems crazy but i guess algieri knows hat he's doing. rios could have used algieri back at lightweight.
Most of the UFC fighters (who are used to weight cutting from college wrestling) cut between 10-15 lbs...some as high as 20 lbs or more in a 24 hr period (AND rehydrate and perform well believe it or not) Boxers doing this utilize a size advantage. When questioned on this being unhealthy in an interview I read Algieri replied "no, whats unhealthy is being dehydrated for the fight, not the weigh in. If a fighter is dehydrated at fight time the brain is more easily prone to damage, so this is why they allow fighters to weigh in the day before, so that they can be properly hydrated by fight time and avoid increased risk of brain injury due to dehydration"
If Timothy couldn't outbox Manny, wtf is Chris gonna do?
This is massacre. Never goes past 4 rounds.
algieri does pose different problems for manny, mostly related to his height. bradley is shorter than manny, IIRC.
i don;t think it will be a four round blowout, though i don't expect algieri to do well. manny has been matched mostly with guys who don't use the ring lately. lots of his opponents would at least start the fight trying not to run away. cotto, for example, didn't run until he got his clock cleaned for the second knockdown. when he did, manny had some issues following him around. i expect some period of adjustment as he gets used to chasing algieri around.
