  • Comments Thread For: Maidana: I Need To Be More Accurate With Mayweather

Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31KOs) is promising to be more calm when he faces WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26KOs) in a rematch on September 13th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Maidana, trained by Robert Garcia in Oxnard, says he was too focused on landing a knockout punch on Mayweather in their first fight and this time around he plans to throw his combinations less recklessly. After twelve rounds, Maidana lost a majority decision.

The more less reckless and conventional Maidana tries to become, the less chance he has to beat Floyd.

Exactly. The only rounds he won is when he was reckless.

I don't think he is looking to become Finito Lopez in the fight or anything, I just think they want to do a little better distance control so that he doesnt smother himself. He'll still be reckless and all that, but just at a better distance, that will help his accuracy imo..he was falling too far in after a while

Ppl gave this guy too much props now he's getting big headed and thinks he's a better boxer than he really is, little does he realize that recklessness was the only reason he was competitive
Now he wants to think and calculate against Mayweather, seriously?? This is a joke this fight will be so wide ppl are gonna wonder how was the first one was even that close

He'd better not be planning to drop his work rate, in an attempt to be more accurate. He'll get picked apart.

To take away your biggest asset is probably a dumb move.

True, but with that space Floyd also will be able to get off his punches better and have more room to move.
