It's not where you "start" its where you finish! Jones was best at 175 I liked James between 168 to 175. Leonard beat LaLonde to win a 168 or 175 BS title, was that his best weight?

GGG is a true middleweight, his height, reach and body type leaves him at 160!! Why do so many fans think men could jump around to weight classes outside their best.
As for Toney and Jones take a good look at them NOW, how they making out?

The guy is the best 160pounder in the sport right now and for the past 2 years. If contenders won't sign theres not much he could do if it continues he will forced to move to 168 to be able to earn a living. I don't think its fare to him but who ever said boxing is fare!

Bernard's 50!!!! He's fighting contenders at his weight (160-175) Jones and Toney were shells of themselves when they moved up. Just because they won a few bouts didn't make it the wise move. They didn't KO Dempsey or out point Ali! They were in with far less talents than they were, that's how 5they got by. Bob Foster was the best LtHvy in the world he moved up to the best Hvies in the world and got stopped! There is a reason boxing has weight classes. You don't need them if mismatches in talent and skills are applied.

I use to spar a world champ who was at 122lbs at his maturity, I was still teenager and I had him by 35lbs. Size didn't help against high skills and experience. A few years later I used to spar ltHvy's and Hvy's and they didn't
have my talent level and I'd whip them up giving away 40!!!

The equalizer would be POWER! That's something you just don't see that often anymore. A green kid with POWER can upset the class with one shot, if he can land it. The guy without POWER has No Chance!

Golovkin is in his early 30s and has filled out his frame. He's a pretty big middleweight. The most that he could move up is light heavy but that seems a bit of a stretch

He's 32 years old. It's not like his body will naturally grow. He's already fully grown. Getting bigger would only be a hindrance to him.

He's obviously too small to be any sort of serious factor in the division but there's no doubt that, in similar vein to Roy, were a weak champion like Ruiz and not too big were presented, that GGG could theoretically accomplish the same.

OF course Roy's HW title depended on a series of highly unlikely events which would probably not occur again for a long time and it'd be unusual that a fighter that size and quality would win a title again.

Chagaev? Yeah sure he's definitely past his best but still is so much tougher than Ruiz I don't think he'd ever succumb to something of that calibre.

No, I think the highest he can go and be effective is 175
