Following Saturday's two round knockout of Daniel Ferreras in Coacalco, undefeated Rey Vargas (21-0, 18KOs) called for a fight with WBC super bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz (27-0-1, 15KOs).

Santa Cruz will defend his title against Manuel Roman on September 13th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The event will be headlined by Floyd Mayweather's rematch with Marcos Maidana.

Vargas is ranked fifth under the WBC and holds their Youth title at the weight. A final WBA eliminator has been ordered between Andres Gutierrez and Hugo Ruiz, and their respective promoters are working out the details.
