Collins actually said he retired because he knew he couldn't beat Calzaghe. If you remember, it was originally meant to be Collins vs. Calzaghe for the WBO title but then Collins retired right before the fight and Eubank was a late replacement.

Nigel Benn (who I love for the record) also publically admitted Calzaghe would have whooped him at the time Calzaghe first won the title.

Collins says that he'd of beaten Calzaghe.

And yes, Benn did say that if he came out of retirement to fight Calzaghe (he was coming out of retirement in 1998) he would get his ass whipped.

I think Collins would of been abit too strong for Calzaghe.

Calzaghe was too wild back then and would of punched himself out before Collins rallying late to stop him.

Calzaghe had the tools to beat Collins, but wouldn't of used them back then. He was too wild circa 96/97.

Collins obviously forgets crying at the press conference and leaving the belt behind a week or something before the planned Calzaghe fight.

What you mean, Calaghe wasn`t too wild to beat Eubank up back then, why couldn't he beat an older Collins?

Collins had nothing to gain and everything to lose, he was only willing to fight again if it was the big one with Roy Jones.

Collins and Eubank are different people

Eubank was unbeatable unless you pressured him - he couldn't handle pressure at all, but Calzaghe was almost TOO wild in that fight. Collins would of been too strong for the kid, his chin was too good and he Enjoyed being pressured.

Why did he sign to fight him then? And he was never going to get RJJ either.

And Collins definate said Calzaghe would have beaten him. I vividly remember him saying it on "Under The Moon" on Channel 4 way back when.

Well, I guess he keeps changing his mind then Lol.

Collins pulled out of the Calzaghe with a week to go because he says he couldn't get motivated for it.
